MASTER IN EMERGENT TECHNOLOGIES IN EDUCATION

The Master in Emergent Technologies in Education graduate program at Wester University provides participants with technological knowledge and skills to create effective school district technology plans, to develop training programs for classroom professors in the use of technology, to promote organizational change through technology, to manage technology resources and personnel in a school setting, and to apply their technical skills and knowledge to identify and utilize technological resources appropriately for the needs of the schools, school districts, and similar educational organizations. All the required courses address these technology needs of schools.  

Designed for individuals who wish to advance their career in instructional design and technology, the Master in Emergent Technologies in Education program's unique format allows students to participate in a cohort model while choosing between online or in-classroom options every term. You will gain the knowledge, skills, and support needed to reach your potential in a variety of settings such as online program management entities, staff training, corporations, PreK-12 schools, colleges and universities, and many types of organizations in the non-profit, private, and public sectors.

In this 32-unit MS program, you will experience a well-rounded and comprehensive course offering focused on preparing future instructional designers and technologists in program design, evaluation, and theory. You will also become proficient in the latest emerging educational technologies, virtual and online learning approaches, transmedia, applied analytics, data visualization, and other relevant and valuable perspectives.

Learning culminates in a capstone integration experience that includes class instruction with essential hands-on practice. Under the direction of skilled faculty-practitioners, the project incorporates either a scholarly paper, product design, or training program.

• Online format is convenient for working professionals and full-time students featuring robust online modules and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning.

• Weekend Immersion experience is an opportunity to engage in meaningful community-building with peers and program leaders on the Jacksonville campus at the beginning of the first term. Although it is optional, this in-person component is highly recommended as it adds a personalized/hands-on approach, relational interaction with your cohort, and increased learning quality.

• Cohort model designed to build upon leadership skills, support, and lifelong relationships with colleagues.

• As one of Wester's progressive degree programs, students may earn credit towards a doctorate while concurrently completing this master's degree. Up to 9 hours of credit may be applied to a doctoral degree within the School of Education, enabling candidates to reduce costs and save time to complete both degrees.

•  New cohorts begin every September and January.

• Most courses completed 100% online with synchronous and asynchronous sessions.

• One Saturday/Sunday weekend of classes each term with flexibility to participate online or in-person, in addition to synchronous course meetings throughout the term.

• Initial Welcome Immersion Experience Saturday/Sunday, on-campus in Jacksonville at the beginning of the first term is strongly recommended but not required.
